Enabling AMD RSR & HYPR-RX
This is important, Launch the game first and put the game to Fullscreen mode and 720p resolution. Exit the game and open up the command center and turn on AMD RSR.
- Open up the AMD Software by clicking the AMD Software icon in your task bar.
- Go to the gaming tab, click the game you want to enable AMD RSR with hypr-rx and borderless fullscreen in the settings. You can adjust the resolution and sharpness here as well.
- In the preferences tab inside AMD Software you can enable the In-Game Overlay so you can see if AMD RSR is enabled when a game starts. (the shortcut key is alt + r)
Alan Wake 2 ROG Ally Game Settings
To launch this on the ROG Ally you need to set your VRAM to Auto. If you don’t you will get this error screen.
After you set your VRAM to Auto you will be prompted with another message but this time you can just hit ok and play the game.
For better picture quality go to the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Remedy\AlanWake2
folder on your ROG Ally and overwrite your renderer.ini
with mine here. Unzip the download and drag it into the AlanWake2 folder. This will disable vignetting, depth of field and lens distortion.
Alan Wake 2 is visually impressive and a demanding game to play on any PC especially the ROG Ally. To make the game playable on the Ally I had to lower the resolution and use FSR which gives a hit to the picture quality. I also suffered from some graphical artifacting and game crashes.
Playing plugged in at 30W with my settings I averaged 30-40 FPS with some dips into the 20’s in the forest & 30-40 FPS in the town. I averaged 40-50 FPS inside other areas. I honestly wasn’t expecting this to play on the ROG Ally so I can’t complain, it’s at least playable right now and hopefully we can get some drivers to improve performance.
